Xbox One

This may come as a surprising news for gaming fans across the globe, but Microsoft announced a Kinect-less version of their next-generation gaming console, the Xbox One. Beginning June 9th, users will be able to grab a shiny new Xbox One for $399 (£349 in the UK), making it $100 cheaper than the Kinect version. This should come as a good news for fans who found the price of the Xbox One to be a little out of budget. This move by the Redmond-based company puts the Xbox One direct in line with the PlayStation 4 price.

Microsoft will continue to offer the more expensive Xbox One with Kinect for $499.99. This doesn’t change any other thing, you’ll still be able to play all the exclusive games such as Titanfall on the console. Later, if you think you need the Kinect, Microsoft says you will be able to purchase it later this fall — there’s no word about the pricing of the standalone sensor, but the company says they’ll share more details in the coming months.

“We’ve heard that you want more choices from Xbox One. You want a wide variety of options in your games and entertainment experiences and you also want options in your hardware selection.” says Microsoft’s Phil Spencer. Spencer says that Kinect is still an integral part of the company’s vision and 80 percent of the users are actively using Kinect, with an average of 120 voice commands per month on each console.

Do you plan on buying the Xbox One now that its price is slashed by $100? Sound off in the comments below.
