Have you ever wondered if you’re running correctly? Or maybe you’re trying to train for a 5K and want to improve your time. What about if you’re correctly punching the bag during your cardio-boxing class? While not all of us can afford a personal training to help us meet our fitness goals, there’s a new way to get that one-on-one help thanks to Moov. The performance tracking device that you wear or mount will monitor your form so that you’re doing the exercise correctly to achieve maximum results. The waterproof Moov is a real-time interactive coach that’s programmed to monitor five different sports and will help you up your game in all of them, including running, cycling, swimming, boxing and body weight. More activities will be added progressively in the coming months when it officially launches later this year.
While other fitness devices track your steps calories or sleep patterns, Moov goes further with its exact motion sensing technology, virtual coach powered by AI and its interactive gaming elements that will take your fitness and workout experience to a whole new level. It pairs with its app on your mobile device (currently iPhone 4s and above and its not compatible with Android phones yet) and tracks your movement, analyzes your body’s position, provides instant feedback and details your progress over time. Feedback is provided in two ways: visually via your mobile device and orally via your earphones. Depending on the type of exercise you’re doing, all you have to do is attach Moov to the body part that you would like to measure during your workout. For instance, wear Moov on your ankle or shoe when running or on your wrist while cardio-boxing (two is even better for this workout). Begin your workout and Moov gives you real-time instructions on how to improve your form and movement efficiency.
But you can also use it as a daily activity monitor to track the frequency of your activity and non-activity like time spent sitting down, steps and calories. For example, if you’re sitting at your desk for too long, Moov will pick up on your inactivity and will then send you a reminder to get up and move or may suggest activities like doing jump squats. It does all this thanks to its 9-axis sensors (accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer) that track your motion evaluate your form. It is connected to your mobile device through Bluetooth Low Energy and works with Moov’s mobile applications. Its battery will last up to 7 days for low-to-medium activity tracking and 8 hours for high-frequency movement tracking, so if you work out an hour per day, 4 days a week, it should last up to 2 weeks. Currently, Moov comes in two colors: white and black and is available for pre-order for $59.95. Each package comes with 1 Moov core, 1 charger, 1 wristband and 1 ankle band. If you want to pre-order two units (for optimal experience across multiple apps and players, as well a great tool for cardio-boxing), it’s $99.95.
