Update: AT&T has also announced that the HTC One will arrive on the 19th for $199.99. They’ll sell a 64GB version for $299.99
Today, Sprint announced that the HTC One, the company’s flagship phone for 2013, will go on sale on April 19th for $199.99 with a 2-year contract and 32GB of storage in your choice of silver or black. New and existing customers can preorder the HTC One as early as April 5th.
Sprint is the first carrier to officially announce the availability of the HTC One, though I’d expect other carriers to follow in the coming days, if not later today. That being said, Verizon is rumored to start carrying the phone sometime in late April, though Big Red has yet to make an official statement.
The HTC One was announced February 19th, and preliminary reviews of the handset have been strong. I wrote up a meta review last month, and both The Verge and Engadget gave it decent if not excellent marks in design, craftsmanship, and performance. The camera has probably been the most polarizing aspect of The One, as it uses something called Ultrapixels, which promise to capture more detail (as well as light). However, the reviews indicated that while The One’s low light performance is quite admirable, the lower resolution camera is a drawback not to be overlooked by those that are hardcore photogs.
