Gadget Leak: Plantronics Voyager Pro Bluetooth Headset Purchased Two Days Early

Earlier this month Plantronics posted a teaser site hinting at what they called their most advanced headset. The official announcement is pegged for April 23rd and the site features teaser pics. In anticipation of the announcement it looks like Plantronics shipped the headset to retail stores but forget to stress the release date. Over the weekend two Best Buy customers managed to purchase the Voyager PRO Bluetooth headset and sent images of the device to Engadget. We still don’t know what all the hoopla is about, but at $120 it better be damn amazing.

I purchased the Voyager Pro 2 days ago at Best Buy without evening knowing that it was supposed to be released on the 23rd. Over the years I have used many many bluetooth headsets such as Jabra,Scala,Jawbone 1,Jawbone 2, Blue Ant, as well as older Plantronics models. Here’s what I truely feel. I have 30 days to return this headset and I am comparing with my current Jawbone 1.
I do not like the way that either of these headsets look on me. The Jawbone is too big and the Plantronics Pro is too big around my ear. Because I do conference calls all day long in my sales and marketing business I must have a long battery life, the headset must be comfortable and it must sound like a home phone. The Voyager Pro has won me over. After doing many test voicemails it sounds the best and blocks out noice really well.
I hope this helps others.
The Best Buy stores in the Portland, OR area are showing $120 on the shelf but ringing up $99 at the register.
