We all do it. Constantly. We leave our desk, we lock our computer. We come back to our desk, we unlock our computer. Back and forth and back and forth, and ultimately, it adds up to quite a lot of wasted time. The Gatekeeper is a keyfob that wants to make it easier to sit down and get to work.
The main problem for a lot of us is that depending on how much coffee we need, and how many meetings we get dragged into, we’re constantly going to and from our desks. So, the GateKeeper was designed to make it simple to keep doing that. On one end is a USB key you plug into the computer, and on the other is the key fob. The key tracks how far you are from the computer. Get more than the adjustable distance away, and your computer locks. Get closer, and it unlocks. The fob is powered with a coin cell battery.
Get To Work
This is particularly useful because offices are bearing down, especially in light of security breaches picking up steam, on locking your computer. But some of us forget, some of us have terrible passwords, and some of us just don’t want to waste the time in the first place. So this offers a good middle ground, especially for the more forgetful of us that are slowing driving IT departments insane. And if you were wondering, it comes with an app that tells you if your keys are swiped, solving one security problem you might have wondered about.
Lock It Unlock It
Unfortunately for your IT manager, the GateKeeper Chain isn’t quite on the market yet. They’re currently putting together a Kickstarter campaign to ensure that they get the funds, and then the Gatekeeper should be good to go. Until then… Ctrl-Alt-Del, folks.
