Cutting a hole in your wall is generally a big no no.  Just go ask your wife or landlord and we can virtually guarantee shaking heads.  If you have none of those aforementioned responsibilities, along with a stockade of small guns, cash, and jewelry, then you’ll probably need a place to keep them safe from prying eyes and sticky fingers.

This Vent Safe from HSI is probably not the most secure of contraptions, but that’s a bit of a moot concern, seeing as a perpetrator would have to find it first.  Instead of using a preexisting vent in your home (like Walter White of “Breaking Bad”), you’ll have to cut a hole in your dry wall, where upon the safe inserts.  Just make sure your home has studs that are 16-inches apart, otherwise it won’t fit.  Once the preassembled safe is installed, you can simply access it by turning a hidden screw hidden between the slats, otherwise known as louvers.

We’d really like to see a version with a combo lock of some sort in the event that someone does stumble upon your stash of goodies.  That said, you could probably hobble your own version together using parts from your local hardware store, and odds are it will be cheaper than the $260 (plus S&H) asking price.  Then again, if you don’t know what “louvers” are, we suggest you just opt for the prebuilt version and save yourself the headache.
