Verizon announced the availability of the cellular network extender femtocell to its subscribers. This technology strengthens and extends the CDMA cell phone signal using the user’s broadband connection.
The network extender, manufactured by Samsung, is a small box that connects to your broadband router/modem. It extends the cell phone coverage by 5,000 feet for up to 50 Verizon subscribers and costs a flat $250 with no monthly subscription.
The catch? It doesn’t support 3G nor GPS.
