BlackBerry Appears on Samsung Flip Phone SGH-T719

Samsung will soon release a flip phone incorporating not only RIM’s new Blackberry Connect (push email system for other manufactures), but also include an extended keyboard (like the 7130) for a more compatible email experience. The T719 should be available sometime in September and is thought to appear on T-Mobile, although unconfirmed. Check out our sister site Phone Dig for full details.

[...] Unicom, one of China’s cell phone providers, has plans to launch a push email service called Redberry. Apparently, the service takes full advantage of the Blackberry branding and push email-like technology, but because the service resides in China there is little RIM can do. According to a Register source, Peter Bullock a partner with the Hong Kong office of Pinsent Masons and a specialist in intellectual property matters said that RIM would have to prove that Chinese consumers were being ‘duped’ into purchasing a product associated with Blackberry. Because the Blackberry brand is little to unknown in China, the case is not such.
