New Sony Car Head Unit w/ Built in Bluetooth: MEX-BT5000

March 9th, 2006

BT5000

Sony’s newest head unit for the car integrates Bluetooth and hands free calling into one neat, sleek package.  A microphone is built directly into the device so no messy wiring is needed, and the caller’s voice is routed to the in car speakers.  Caller information can also be displayed on the MEX-BT5000, with the ability to store up to 50 (slight disappointment) contacts for future calls.  The BT5000 can also control and receive music from Bluetooth compatible MP3 players and phones.

[...] Can’t back up?  Can’t drive while chit chatting on your phone?  Are you 3 foot nothing and have trouble seeing behind you?  Then perfect, because the ModooFree gives you the ears and eyes to do all that.  The MHF-R330BT (if you cant tell the BT stands for Bluetooth) rear view mirror includes a heads up display to show you the distance between said obstacle and the car’s rear via sensors installed in the bumper.  It will also emit an alarm if you’re on a collision course.  Additionally, the device has built in Bluetooth for handsfree chattin’ with compatible Bluetooth phones, and can display and announce the incoming caller’s number. not really happy!!!
The screen - lots of room to put much more info - like a second line of text - but no. Scroll stops after it does it one - will not scroll again without you pushing a button. Only 1 line of MP3 data- why not 2 - the LCD can do it- but does not
Bluetooth - Only has 50 address book memory spots - sucks
plus when driving 7p tp 80 - hands free doesnt work because of the noice of the road. It works great a low speeds like on base were you cant have a phone to your head.
AuX preamp - USELESS - Hooked in a IPOD (and other mp3 devices) - I have the AUX trim/booth up to 6 (max) and the volume all the way up and it has no power - plus sound hollow-
ITr really hard to attached the face plate.
Sony - the joystick is great. The display is bright and clear (but direct sun messes it up). Bluetooth sucks, no USB, AUX is weak - Display info is pour - you need to work on this.

Radio was installed by Sony auth installer - even they said the AUX sucked
