Verizon released the Blackberry 7130e yesterday. This is their first phone to take advantage of their high speed EV-DO network (Verizon claims 400-700k download speeds, but results have been mixed). The phone can also be plugged into a computer and act as a modem. The 7130e takes a new spin on its keyboard with the SureType thumbboard, a hybrid between a QWERTY keyboard and thumb pad (see picture). The device features 64mb of memory, Bluetooth, and a number of road warrior like features.

The Blackberry 7130e is currently available from Verizon for $300 with a 2 year contract.

The quad band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/GPRS and Edge based phone includes a ‘pearl like trackball’ for navigation, the Suretype keypad, Bluetooth, 240×260 screen that adjusts to lighting for optimal viewing, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. On board memory is 64MB but can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot. MP3 and other audio/video is also supported and expect a 15 day battery life and 3.5 hour talk time. [...]
