Rē NewKinetix IR Dongle

Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."

  1. I have both the Re and the i-got-it for comparison. The i-got-it has a large database like the Re, but lacks the advanced features. The i-got-it will give you a limited function replacement remote for each device but little more. For the same price, the Re gives you many more functions per remote, Activity based meta-remotes, favorites lists, and fully customizable remote layouts. Also the Re is organized by room, so you have all of the remotes for that room handy, and don’t have the others in the way like on the i-got-it. 2. The Re does support learning. Learning is just typically not required because most devices will be automatically setup from the database.

You seem to imply because there have been several Universal Remote apps and accessories, that they are all equivalent. If you download the app and compare or compare features from the various products announced, you will find that isn’t true.

The Re is the 1st iPhone Universal Remote Control app that rivals a high-end traditional remote. The other entries lack one or more critical features found in the Re. They are either learning only, without a database, or are only simplistic device remote replacements. None other than the Re offer activity based use, like “Watch TV” or “Watch DVD” and Favorites lists.
