Sources Indicate PS3 Production Costs Down 70% Since 2006, Now Let The Consumer Get Some!

Could the PS3 finally be on it’s way to getting this much fabled and anticipated price cut?  I think it is about time and with all this web chatter about production costs going down it should be pretty much inescapable at this point.  Previous numbers told us that a PS3 originally cost roughly $800 to manufacture.  Do the calculations on a 70% decrease and you get a nice looking $240.  Corporate CEO  Big Wig Nobuyuki Oneda claimed that during a conference call that these figures are accurate and that the production schedule has not faltered and remains steadfast  Sony should just break the public off some with a damn price cut already!!

    It would probably be in Sony’s best interest to hold off on a price cut as long as possible to regain some of their losses. Then, either just before, or as Holiday season is underway, slash the price, introduce a bundle w/ Uncharted 2+ PS3 Slim, or GT5+PS3 Slim, or hell..both would be fine. Because really, Sony has a ton of games coming out over the next 12 months, many in Q4 2009, and on into Q1 2010.

    What Sony needs to establish, is their marketing blitz/hype. When they announce the Slim and the price cut, either at once, or separately…they need to make it loud, and exciting. (Hence the reason to launch GT5 or Uncharted 2 with…people are waiting for those). But, keep people remembering that commercial…
