The new Chevy Volt communicates with the GPS to determine gas use. Say you’re 30 miles from home and your Volt battery doesn’t have enough charge to get you there. The integrated GPS relays this information to the system and turns on the gas power until the batteries charge just enough to get you home. Kudos to the engineers that came up with this brilliant idea.
