Okay after my first XBox 360 impression, I decided I’m really angry Nintendo decided to not go with high definition for its upcoming console, codenamed the Revolution.
Reggie Fils-Aime, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America, confirmed that the Nintendo Revolution would definitely not be high definition. Why? Well according to Fils-Aime,
Casual and non-gamers, the company feels, are less interested in flashy graphics than enjoyable games. And the large files that go hand in hand with high definition video result in “almost interminably long” load times for games, something that would also be detrimental to a mainstream audience
That’s all well and good Nintendo, but what about the hardcore audience that still sticks with you because of Mario and Zelda? Couldn’t you have given us high definition and left it off by default. Mainstream audience could have their quick load times. Hardcore gamers could flip the high definition switch on and enjoy waiting for glorious HD. The load times are worth it.
Please oh please Nintendo, don’t shoot yourself in the foot like you did with cartridges on the N64. No one is as concerned with load times as you guys. We want high definition. Please people, comment on this post if you’re with me. Maybe Nintendo will hear us.
