Philips SoundRing

Philips line of Fidelio speakers continues to expand. Last week the company introduced the SoundRing with Airplay. Two versions will be available when it goes on sale later this year, but both promise natural and immersive sound that fires in all directions.
Under the hood are a central bass sound pipe and four high definition drivers – two front-firing and two side-firing. The DS3880W incorpates a a 5-hour rechargeable battery and iPhone dock, while the DS3800W uses the same speaker setup, but lacks a built-in rechargeable battery. Total power caps out at 16 watts and a 5-band equalizer is on board, which can be accessed using their compatible Fidelio iPhone app.
Since both models feature Apple’s Airplay technology, you’ll be able to stream tunes from any iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or PC with a wireless signal. Alternatively, there is an AUX input for non-compatible devices. Included is a remote that complements the design of the SoundRing, allowing you to change tracks and volume from afar.
