Apparently Ion Audio’s first iPad compatible piano wasn’t the hit they expected to be, that or it just wasn’t damn portable enough to go along with the diminutive size of the iPad.  And hence why the company has announced the Piano Apprentice.  It’s effectively a shrunken down version of the aforementioned product, however it includes a set of keys that light up to show you which ivories to tickle during your lesson.  This 25 key beast also includes a free app, which has Scott Houston showing you the ropes as it coordinates with the illuminated keyboard.  Stereo speakers, AA battery power (plugin power as well) and core MIDI compliant round out the feature set.

Expect the Ion Audio Piano Apprentice to arrive this September for about $100.
