In determining the best curved monitor to buy, we explored performance/display (wide color gamut), curvature, ergonomics, and the number of ports.
Our preference is for screens to have a minimum resolution of 4K. The higher the resolution, the richer the color, depth, and contrasts along with a wide color gamut. UltraWide QHD (3440×1440) displays are definitely top of the line in this aspect. IPS pane displays also typically provide better performance than TN and VA panels at the expense of lower refresh rates. In terms of color reproduction, look for 90%+ sRGB, Adobe RGB coverage as well, where the higher the percentage, the greater the color accuracy, critical for photo and video editing where on-screen color needs to match print exactly.
We like curved monitors with a minimum curvature rating of 1800R and a maximum of 1000R. The lower the number, the greater the curvature. Different curvature offers a different perception of depth.
In terms of ergonomics, look for curved monitors with healthy swivel, tilt, pivot, and height adjustment angles. The greater the range, the more comfortable viewing positions you can achieve. Don’t forget auxiliary technologies such as flicker-free and low blue light filtering to reduce eye strain.
