Book worms will surely love this chair, called the Sunflower Chair. Though, we haven’t sat in it, so there is a good chance that it’s unbelievably uncomfortable. One of the mistakes to avoid when buying a chair. But does that really matter seeing as you can store your books at just an arms reach away?
It may not be one of consumer reports desk chairs, but it’s fun.
The picture pretty much speaks for itself, but for the sake of posterity a circular bookshelf surrounds the seat. It appears to be tilted back at an almost 45 degree angle, so in theory it should be comfortable enough to lounge in and read your favorite periodical or novella. However, the padded area, or the chair looks a bit small in size, so you’ll need an ottoman if you want to sprawl out or put your legs up.
Unfortunately, the Sunflower Chair is not for sale. It was created by designers He Mu and Zhang Qian from the Shanghai University of Engineering Science. It recently won the Redtory Design Award at the Design for Sitting Gran Prix competition in Guangzhou, China.
