Product Snapshot
Overview
Released in 2021, the Hon Ignition 2.0 is a mid-range desk chair with an Ilira-mesh backrest and fabric seat cushion. It features an all-plastic build, a Synchro-tilt mechanism, and five casters but lacks caster lock control. It weighs 54lbs and has an overall weight capacity of 300lbs. The arm’s maximum height is 11 inches, and width is 20 inches, and like the best office chair, it boasts lumbar support.
The wheels have a 360-degree swivel function, and there is a knob to adjust tilt tension. The chair comes with three bolts and an Allen wrench for assembly.
The Hon Ignition 2.0 is an adequately comfortable and sleek-looking office chair boasting a Synchro-tilt mechanism that minimizes the seat pan rise as you recline between work hours. You can raise or lower the armrests (maximum height: 11 inches) and extend or shorten their width (maximum width: 20 inches) for the ideal elbow position. Moving the seat cushion forward or backward accommodates shorter or longer legs, but the lowest height adjustment is too tall for individuals under 5’2 inches.
Equipped with a breathable Ilira-Stretch Mesh backrest and plastic lumbar support, the chair ensures comfort while minimizing lower back strain. However, the absence of neck support could lead to fatigue during extended work sessions. Despite its durable all-plastic construction, the foam cushions may gradually flatten over time and require replacement.
ReasonS to Buy
Good ergonomics/adjustability
This daily-use task chair has adequate support for long work hours. The armrests can be raised and lowered (maximum height: 11 inches), and you can extend and shorten their width (maximum 20 inches), but they can’t be turned outward and inward.
Hon Ignition’s 2.0 Synchro-tilt mechanism lets you comfortably recline the chair, and the left side lever enables you to move your seat cushion forward or backward to accommodate short and long legs. You can also raise or lower the chair’s height.
Comfortable lumbar support
The lumbar support prevents strain in the lower back, especially while sitting for extended periods, and can be adjusted by lifting or lowering it.
Robust construction
Despite its predominantly plastic construction, this chair has a satisfying heft and feels built for longevity.
Reason to Avoid
No neck support
It has a mid-height backrest, so it may not be for you if you prioritize neck support in an office chair for reduced neck strain.
Tall for individuals under 5’2″
Even at the lowest height adjustment, individuals under 5’2″ may have difficulty placing their feet on the ground.
Cushion padding flattens out
Continuous use can cause the cushion padding to flatten out over the years, and you may have to replace it with a third-party cushion.

The Hon Ignition 2.0 features adjustable armrests for proper elbow placement, while the Hon Ignition Executive High-Back Task Chair has stationary arms. However, the Executive High-Back Task Chair offers back height adjustment to tailor to your height, while the Ignition 2.0 lacks this feature. Lastly, the Executive High-Back Task Chair has an upholstered, cushiony back, whereas the Ignition 2.0 features a mesh back for better ventilation in warmer environments.

While both the Branch Verve and Hon Ignition 2.0’s backrests keep you cool, the Verve is made of unique 3D knit fabric that offers better cushioning than the Ignition 2.0’s flexible Ilira-Stretch mesh. The Ignition 2.0 has a slightly wider seat width of 20 inches than the Verve’s 17-inch seat width. For more information, read this Branch Verve review.

The Flexispot C7 features an adjustable headrest to prevent neck stiffness, unlike the Hon Ignition 2.0. While both have lumbar support, the C7’s lumbar support is more advanced since it detects changes in posture and automatically adjusts itself. But with the Hon Ignition 2.0, you’ll have to adjust manually based on the level of support required. To learn more, check our Flexispot C7 review.

The Hon Ignition 2.0 offers some improvements over the Hon’s original 1.0 Ignition chair. The newer 2.0 has a taller back (29 inches) than the 1.0’s 24-inch backrest height. Moreover, unlike its older version, which has a fixed lumbar curve, it features adjustable lumbar support.
