When looking for one of the best 2 in 1 laptops and the best laptop, users probably want a laptop that provides stunning visuals in both modes, and the HP Spectre Folio may be such a laptop. It’s a leather laptop that is also so thin that it looks like it’s about as thick as single wall cardboard. Its sleek design and features make it a highly-rated laptop.
The HP Spectre Folio has a processor that’s more powerful than the Intel Core i5. It’s a laptop that also has a tablet mode, and provides a very slim design that not only makes it incredibly easy to transform from laptop to tablet and vice versa, but can also be stored just about anywhere.
This laptop has a dual core processor known as the Intel Core i7, similarly to the Dell XPS 15 2 in 1. However, it also has half of the amount of RAM as the Dell, which has 16 GB of RAM. Another difference between the Spectre Folio and the Dell XPS is the GPU: The Spectre has the Intel UHD Graphics 615 and the Dell has the AMD Radeon RX Vega 870, with the Intel being more powerful, but has less pipelines. Take a look at our HP Spectre X360 13 8Th Gen review for laptop with a fast processor.
The battery life is amazing, as it has about 19 hours before it needs to be recharged, making it even better than the Dell XPS 13 9365’s battery life, which is about 15 hours. While there shouldn’t be much of a need for user intervention, the main way to ensure that the battery lasts for as long as it can is to not push the processor or RAM too close to their limits. This assortment consists of two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a headphone/ microphone combo jack, and USB c/type c ports. Both port types offer fast data transfers rates due to being the newest versions of their types, and can be used to quickly charge various devices. It has gigabyte wireless connection speed with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac wireless connection standards, and it also has Bluetooth for situations such as the possibility of the audio jack not working properly.
What makes this laptop stand out is that it has leather to cover most of the chassis, unlike laptops such as the Lenovo Yoga C940 that only have an aluminum chassis and nothing else. The leather covering adds a thin layer of protection and helps to prevent scratches. While it’s still light weight, this slim laptop is heavier than it looks, as it weighs 3.2 Lbs., weighing more than the Lenovo, which weighs 2.98 Lbs.
This laptop is expensive, but it’s not expensive without reason, as it provides high quality features to enhance a user’s overall experience. Features that can affect the price the most would include the touch screen that contains an IPS panel, the 256 GB solid state drive, and the Intel Core i7 processor. It also has a built-in HD webcam in the form of HP’s TrueVision HD webcam, which provides visuals that look less grainy.
Customer reviews have mostly been positive, with customers praising the laptop for its stylish appearance, battery life, and its convertibility. However, one reviewer has addressed that the leather covering is capable of somewhat coming undone at the seams and that it should have better stitching.
