I’m a huge proponent of Sonos. It’s the premium in home wireless streaming music system, though there in lies the rub; it’s for home use only. So if you’re still seeking an iPhone 5 compatible speaker solution, you might want to look at JBL’s latest offerings, which includes the Venue, and now the just announced OnBeat Rumble.
Even though his little devil is not on our list of top bluetooth speakers, but it is still packed with 50-watts of power, and a built-in 4.5-inch sub, so I’m relatively confident this speaker system will pump out some decent sound. Like the Venue, there is a Lightning dock to charge and playback tunes, though JBL has also packed in Bluetooth in the mix for those still sporting a 30-pin device or a non-Apple handset. HARMAN, which owns JBL, has also folded in their TrueStream technology when you’re streaming audio from a wireless device, but that said, don’t expect to find WiFi or Airplay support. I can only assume the JBL OnBeat Rumble sports an AUX input as well as a USB input, especially since its costs a whopping $399 – $200 more than the Venue – sometime this Spring.
I’ll try and score a hands on at CES.
