New flat screen TV or portable speaker?  Say what!?  That’s the debate you might one day have with your loved one when it comes to buying Libratone’s recently released Airplay infused speakers.

They’ll come in two flavors; the Live and the Lounge.  The Live is intended to be used as a portable device and even includes a handle.  The Lounge on the other hand is designed for a household shelf, otherwise known as a fixed position.  In theory, given its larger size, it should produce much bigger sound.  Both speakers have been crafted using what the company calls “hand picked” materials; Italian cashmere, wood and chrome.

If you’re not familiar with Airplay, it’s Apple proprietary wireless speaker system.  You can stream audio from any iOS device or computer running iTunes.  Just keep in mind that you’ll have to add any compatible device to your home’s network, which is simple enough.

So coming back to the debate between a flat screen or a portable speaker.  The Liberatone Live and Lounge are set to cost $699 and $1,299 respectively.  Sticker shock?  You bet your ass.  They should be available at Apple’s website and a variety of major retailers.
