LCD Phone Projector

According to The Korea Times, we can expect projector embedded cell phones as early as next April. Created by Iljin Display, the Single LCD Panel technology should be able to project up to a seven inch full-color screen. The LCD panel itself is only .24 wide, and is able to operate on just one panel (as opposed to the standard three panels found in older technology) by switching rapidly between the three necessary colors: red, green, and blue. Iljin Display is already working with Korean manufactures Samsung and LG Electronics.

  6. [...] Not too long ago we saw a phone with a built-in projector. Well, if you don’t want to upgrade your handset and still obtain similar functionality, then you’re in luck. The Explay projector, still in testing, is a “matchbox sized” projector and hooks directly to your cell. Supposedly, Explay has plans to use the technology in other devices such as camcorders, enabling videographers to display their work on the spot – no more cramped necks and bruised ribs shoving your way through the crowd to see Uncle Dave do a face plant over, and over again. This projector is capable of projecting much larger than 7 inches. If you go to the microvision web site, which is the company who invented the projector, they show a demonstration. This was also demonstrate at the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show. It shows a youtube video of a much larger screen. It is really awesome!

Microvision corp. has developed such a projector along with Motorola and showed the prototype in Vegas this week. It projects with lasers and can project an image up to 100" x 100" in size. They also are releasing on the market soon a mini stand alone projector the size of an ipod video unit. You can hook your ipod up to it and project the same image on the wall, etc. Check it out!
