To help you find the best projector for bright rooms, we researched over 50 different, individual products, looking specifically for options that featured a light output above 2,000 lumens. We also ranked the highly-rated projectors based on their resolution, color accuracy, overall build quality, and user-friendliness.
In the end, we selected the ViewSonic PX748-4K as our top pick in the best projector for bright rooms category. This powerful projection offers ultra HD resolution, a whopping 4,000 lumens of brightness, and beautiful colors with HDR10 support. Keep reading about this, and our other top picks to learn more about the best projectors on the market today.
Award: TOP PICK
WHY WE LIKE IT: 4K definition, HDR support, and a whopping 4,000 lumens of light output are just the beginning when it comes to this ViewSonic 4K projector. Add these on top of long lamp life and dual HDMI connectivity, and you can see why this is our top-pick projector.
The ViewSonic PX748-4K provides a truly stunning home entertainment experience with 4K ultra HD resolution and vivid colors with HDR support. ViewSonic has also built this projector with its proprietary Super Color technology to increase color accuracy and vividness, a feature that propels the product forward in our ratings. And with a whopping 4,000 lumens of brightness, you’ll get stellar picture quality even in the brightest of rooms. We only wish it offered a higher contrast ratio than 12,000:1, especially since it’s a 4K product, but this is only a minor drawback.
The PX748-4K DLP projector also offers a high design quality with a bulb that can last upwards of 15,000 total hours due to the helpful SuperEco mode. This leading ViewSonic projector also offers an integrated 10W speaker that you can use if you don’t have a home theater sound system in place. We were also impressed with the dual HDMI cable input ports that allow you to have multiple devices connected simultaneously. Overall, user-friendliness is good, too. You can control the DLP projector using either the onboard controls or included remote control. This model will even work better with the best projector screen for a home theater that has the vinyl screen material that makes your colors shine in ways you never thought possible.
Award: BEST FOR SPORTS
WHY WE LIKE IT: This projector is the best option for sports lovers due to its various sports-specific modes, super-bright lamp, and excellent onboard speakers. It also creates stellar color due to 96% Rec. 709 and HDR10 compatibility.
There’s no question about it. The BenQ TK800 is the best projector for watching sports in well-lit rooms. For starters, it offers an impressive 3,000 lumens of brightness from the lamp, which is more than enough to display a picture even in daylight settings. On top of that, the projector features both a Football and a Sport picture mode, which help create a smoother and brighter picture during those intense moments during the game. We were also really impressed with BenQ’s ability to create highly detailed colors in bright rooms, thanks mostly to the 92% Rec. 709 color gamut and 10,000:1 contrast ratio. Add all of these features on top of the 4K UHD resolution, and you’ve got yourself a setup that’s hard to beat.
When it comes to usability and the overall setup process, you’ll be hard-pressed to find something as simple and user-friendly as the TK800M. The projector features automatic vertical keystone correction, so you don’t have to constantly fiddle with adjustments to get the best picture. Other than that, the overall user interface is easy to use and simple. The BenQ can play 3D video content, but be aware that it takes some manual setup, and can only play in native 1080p, instead of 4K. The other thing to know is that the BenQ creates a black frame around the screen, which is common in projectors that use a 0.47” UHD DLP chip, which the BenQ does. This doesn’t detract from the overall experience, and we think you won’t notice that much at all. And if you’re looking for a good model for use at your workplace, consider the best business projector that offers a long-lasting performance that you can rely on in any business scenario.
Award: BEST QUALITY
WHY WE LIKE IT: This ultra-short-throw projector produces a whopping 4,000 lumens of brightness in normal modes, and more in Dynamic Mode, which makes it perfect for daylight viewing. Combine that with 4K resolution, laser lighting technology, and a deep contrast ratio, and you’ve got the best quality projector for bright rooms your money can buy.
The Epson Home Cinema LS100 is the best projector for daylight viewing, especially when you pair it with the best projector screen for bright rooms, which tends to be an ALR screen. These high accolades are mostly due in part to the 4,000 lumens of brightness coming from the LS100’s laser lighting technology and the incredibly bright Dynamic Mode. However, the native 4K resolution and 2,500,000:1 contrast ratio also help. Unfortunately, the LS100 does not include any kind of Frame Interpolation functionality, meaning you’ll likely see some stuttering in high-action scenes.
The LS100 features an advanced 3-chip design, which eliminates color wheels, white segments, and rainbow effects. This creates an even better picture overall, especially in bright environments. We were also impressed with how easy it was to set up this projector. If you’ve never used a short-throw projector, getting it set up so close to the screen can be a strange experience at first. However, it eliminates all the messy wiring and mounting that usually needs to be done. All in all, the Epson Home Cinema LS100 is the best short throw projector for bright rooms and will even serve you well in dark rooms, too. Compare this to the best short throw projector that offers a sheer number of cutting-edge functions and features.
Award: BEST VOICE CONTROL
WHY WE LIKE IT: This projector for bright rooms pairs with Alexa and Google voice assistants to provide you with a seamless smart home experience in your home theater room. It also creates a beautiful and bright picture with PureMotion technology, HDR10, and 2,400 lumens of brightness.
The Optoma UHD51A is on the cutting edge of projector technology. As the integration of smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant becomes more prevalent across the country, you’ll start to see more voice-controlled devices like this projector. Once paired with a voice control product, you can do things like power the projector on and off, change video inputs, and adjust the volume, all through voice commands.
Of course, you shouldn’t worry that these smart home features are a way to package the projector in a way that hides flaws. The Optoma UHD51A is a 4K home theater projector that creates an amazing picture in both dark and light environments. While the somewhat lower 2,400 lumens of brightness probably means you won’t be able to use this in daylight, it still performs well in moderately-lit rooms. On top of ultra HD, the Optoma provides HDR10 support and PureMotion technology to create extra-smooth pictures with tons of bright and accurate colors. And if you’re a gamer you will be interested in the best 3D projector that has both Sports and Game modes that create smooth, judder-free images for a more immersive experience.
Award: BEST FOR GAMING
WHY WE LIKE IT: With a low input lag, solid 1080p performance, and an extra-bright lamp at 3,000 lumens, this is a great choice for gamers who like to play in bright environments. It also features 3D compatibility and solid onboard audio, so you get an all-in-one solution for your entertainment needs. For another great product like this, you may want to check out our other top-rated projector for gaming.
The Epson Home Cinema 3700 is a 3LCD projector that creates an extra bright picture with overall accurate and vivid colors. The three-chip design matches color brightness to white brightness, so everything stays balanced on the screen. On top of that, you get an impressively low 28 ms of input lag on both Fine and Fast modes, which is why this is such a great choice for gamers. Just be aware that if you activate any kind of Frame Interpolation to smooth the picture, the input lag will jump up significantly. The only downside to Epson’s picture quality is the fact that this isn’t a 4K machine. It only offers full HD, 1080p resolution.
We were also impressed with the 3700’s ability to create clear and crisp images with Epson Home Cinema’s proprietary Epson Image Enhancement. You’ll also get two 10W speakers built directly into the projector, which performs surprisingly well overall. You even get 3D compatibility with the 3700 projector, which is a nice touch. Of course, we can’t forget to mention the 3,000 ANSI lumens of lamp brightness here. It’s more than enough to run the LCD projector in bright rooms. Its features make this one of the best projectors for artists on the market today.
Award: BEST HDR DISPLAY
WHY WE LIKE IT: If you’re looking for a 4K projector that produces a wider range of color details via HDR support, then this is the top Acer projector for you. On top of a gorgeous picture, this projector also offers Frame Interpolations settings, which create smoother motion during intense scenes.
The Acer H7850 4K projector is an excellent choice for anyone obsessed with having the brightest and most vivid color experience. The ultra-high definition resolution helps a lot with creating this experience, along with the projector’s 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, but it really shines when it comes to HDR. The Acer H7850 supports both HDR10 and Rec.2020 content, so you know you’ll be getting the best when it comes to a wider color gamut with more accurate color reproduction.
This 4K projector is also great for bright rooms, of course, with its 3,000 lumens of light output. You can choose to get this projector calibrated by an ISF technician to include both day and night modes, which really makes a difference, especially for daylight viewing. We were also impressed with the Frame Interpolation (FI) functionality, which can create a smoother picture during high-motion scenes over four different levels. The Acer H7850 is also more compact than similar models, which is nice if you’re tight on space. Just be aware that it doesn’t feature any keystone correction, so you’ll need to place it just right to get the best picture. But if you’re an iPhone user, you’ll definitely love the best iPhone projector that also includes a sturdy tripod, you can use to set the projector up virtually anywhere with ease.

Award: HONORABLE MENTION
WHY WE LIKE IT: This projector offers affordability and high performance in the same package with full HD resolution and an impressive 4,000 lumens of brightness. With these features and plenty of connectivity options, this option is great for business presentations and office use.
The Vankyo Performance V600 is the best projector for bright conference rooms for a wide variety of reasons. For starters, you get a high lamp brightness, coming in at 4,000 lumens, which is 80% brighter than most other full HD projectors. This is enough to see your presentation in large, bright conference rooms. Plus, the Vankyo can project images to big screens 300 inches in size, with full HD, and 1080p resolution. It offers pretty solid color accuracy and a decent 5,000:1 contrast ratio, which is perfect for work presentations. However, it does provide a solid movie-watching experience, too.
We were also impressed with the usability options the Vankyo projector provided. With two HDMI ports, a USB port, an SD card slot, and a VGA port, you’ll be able to hook up pretty much any device you want. The only bummer with the connection here is the limited audio port, which is stereo-out only. This is limiting because you’ll need some extra adapters if you want to connect to a surround sound system. However, the onboard 10-watt speaker should be good enough for most applications, especially for work presentations. The V600 also offers a 15-degree keystone correction setting, so you have more flexibility in where you can place the device without too much distortion. You also get a handy carrying case with your purchase of the Vankyo projector, which is a nice bonus. And for an outdoor viewing experience, consider the best outdoor projector with 10 individual elements that increase color, brightness, and sharpness.
Award: BEST ON A BUDGET
WHY WE LIKE IT: With a whopping 5,500 lumens of brightness, a super compact design, and plenty of connectivity options, all at an extra affordable price, this portable projector is the best for budget hunters. It also includes a tripod for even more portability and ease of use.
The Qkk Mini is by far the best budget projector for bright rooms, and it doesn’t even have to sacrifice too much to give you a more affordable option. The best part about the Qkk is its compact and ultra-portable design. It measures in at just 9.4 x 9.2 x 4.3 inches, making it one of the smallest options we researched. Your purchase also includes a handy tripod that makes setup and installation even easier. In our review of the Acer H6517ST DLP projector, it doesn’t come with a tripod, but it’s definitely a great pick to stay within your budget.
The biggest downside to the Qkk projector is the fact that it only offers 480p. However, with a 5,500-lumens brightness rating, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, and accurate color reproduction, you’ll still get an excellent picture, even in bright rooms. The Qkk portable projector also gives you a wide variety of connectivity options with an HDMI port, SD card slot, and VGA port. You’ll also get dual USB connectivity so you can play movies straight from your flash drives. We were also really impressed by the Qkk’s ability to operate quietly, even in the brightest settings. All in all, these features, combined with the Qkk’s compact size, make this the best mini projector for bright rooms. Compare this to the best mini projector on the market today.
Award: BEST FOR TRAVEL
WHY WE LIKE IT: This portable projector for bright rooms is best for all of your traveling needs due to its compact design and overall high performance. It is also whisper-quiet and lasts forever with a 40,000-hour bulb life.
If you’re looking for something compact, affordable, and bright to take with you on trips, look no further than the Vankyo Leisure 3 projector. This device will serve all of your entertainment needs on the go with minimal tradeoffs. This powerful projector provides 2,400 ANSI lumens of brightness, which is impressive for its smaller size. It can also operate for upwards of 40,000 hours on a single bulb before a replacement is needed. Finally, you’ll even be able to create displays up to 170 inches in size.
But what about picture quality? This is one of the areas where Leisure 3 disappoints slightly. It only features an 800×480 pixel resolution, which is less than full HD. However, besides that, the picture is surprisingly high quality. You get bright, accurate colors due to the MStar Advanced Color Engine. We were also impressed by how quiet the Vankyo is, even on the highest brightness settings, due to its unique fan noise suppression system. All in all, if you need a bright room projector to take on the go, you can’t go wrong here. And if you’re on a tight budget, check out the best cheap projector on the market today that can still be used in a business setting.
Award: BEST FOR SMALL ROOMS
WHY WE LIKE IT: This projector for bright rooms is compact, yet powerful enough to produce a bright image in small rooms. With the ability to project movies onto displays up to 100 inches in size, plus tons of connectivity options, this is a great projector for budget-minded individuals with minimal home theater space.
The Dr. J Professional HI-04 projector is bright, compact, and surprisingly versatile for its price point and size. This handy little projector can create an image size of up to 100 inches, which is perfect for small to moderately-sized living rooms. It only offers 2,000 lumens of brightness, which doesn’t work well in full daylight but should be plenty for moderate ambient lighting. We were also surprised by the HI-04’s overall color accuracy and vividness. You don’t get a full 1080p resolution, but the native resolution of 720p still creates a good picture overall.
The Dr. J Professional projector is also very adjustable with 15 degrees of horizontal keystone correction, adjusted using the manual slider above the lens. Plus, it offers a lot of connectivity options, including HDMI, USB, VGA, TF cards, and AV in/out. We were most impressed by the seamless USB compatibility, which allows you to easily play movies in multiple formats directly from a flash drive. With the proper cables, you can even connect a smartphone to the HI-04 for even more video source compatibility. All in all, if you don’t have a ton of space in your movie room, this is an excellent option. But could always go for the best ceiling-mounted projector that allows you to easily invert the screen for ceiling orientation directly from the menu.
In this category, brightness is king. You can’t expect a solid performance in daylight and bright rooms without having a high amount of lumens. As such, we only included projectors here if they could produce at least 2,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, on the low end. However, we gave preference to products with 3,000+ ANSI lumens.
Besides brightness, it was important for the projectors to include high-quality pictures in all types of lighting conditions. This comes about as a combination of contrast ratio, color accuracy, and resolution. We awarded bonus points to 4K projectors but did not exclude options with lower resolutions. We also preferred projectors with higher contrast ratios, as they provided more differentiation between lights and darks, which is essential for bright-room viewing.
Finally, we considered the overall user-friendliness and ease of adjustability. It’s likely that you won’t always be using your projector in a bright room, so we rated options based on their ability to easily switch between day and night modes. We also gave more points to projectors that included picture adjustability options like keystone correction and vertical tilt options. Also, don’t forget about sound quality. You should check to see how good the built-in speakers are, if available, so you know if you will have the added expense of external speakers.
