Buyers who need a fast printer that can print out high-quality documents for their professional workplace often get confused about whether or not to go for a wide format printer. The Epson WorkForce 1100, while being a wide format high-quality inkjet printer, also provides great speed. That makes it one of the best large format printers and probably the best printer for heat transfers in its price bracket.

Why We Like It – Epson WorkForce 1100
Epson’s wide format printers are usually excellent, and the Epson WorkForce 1100 is no different. It is one of the older inkjet printers from Epson’s lineup. Still, a few color and black ink-related issues aside, it holds up very well compared to their newer inkjet printers. Check out our Epson SureColor P600 review for another great wide format option. However, if you need a very portable option, the Epson WorkForce WF-110 may better suit your needs.

Speed
The speed of the Epson WorkForce 1100 is one of its strong points. This printer provides 30 PPM black Ink and 17 PPM color print speeds on normal print quality. However, on the high-quality setting, you get about 13 PPM black ink/5.5 PPM color print speeds, which is a bit low for large format printers.
Print Quality
Considering the standard of inkjet printers, the print quality of the Epson WorkForce 1100 is just fine. But, among newer inkjet printers, Epson WorkForce 1100 doesn’t hold up very well. That’s why, if the print quality is your utmost priority, go with the Epson Artisan 1430.
Efficiency
As you might have expected, being an older model, the Epson WorkForce 1100 is not very efficient at all. It does support dual-sided printing, but it stops right there. It does consume less power compared to laser printers. But compared to the newer inkjet printers, it doesn’t hold a candle in terms of energy usage efficiency.
Advanced Features
Even though it’s very old at this point, it does have a few features that are very useful even nowadays. We’ve already mentioned dual-sided printing. It also supports instant-dry ink for smudges and fade-free water-resistant prints. But the convoluted ink cartridge replacement process and the high ink usage do hold the printer back a bit. If you can’t stand that, go for a newer model. The Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000 should be good enough in this regard.
Value
Coming in at just above $1100, the Epson WorkForce 1100 is pretty great for budget shoppers who need a high-volume printer. Newer inkjet printers do come at lower price points, but they can’t handle high-volume printing work that well. But if you can suffice with that, get the Epson WF7710 Workforce Wireless Printer instead.
Epson WorkForce 1100 Wrap Up
The Epson WorkForce 1100 still is one of the best high-capacity printers out there that can handle large volumes of printing work. The value proposition itself is just too good to turn down.
