Mophie is no stranger to crafting iPhone products. They’ve long offered a variety of battery cases for Apple’s handset, as well as rugged external battery that boasts 6000mAh and can survive a variety of elements (we submerged it in water).
Yesterday, the company announced the Outride. It’s not the first of its ilk, and nor do we expect it to be the last. The Outride is effectively a polycarbonate casing that includes a set of mounts for adhering your iPhone to your bike helmet, handlebars, surfboard, and whatever other extreme sports scenarios you and your buddies can dream up. They say the Outride iPhone housing is completely waterproof and impact resistant. Course, those are relevant terms, but you get the idea. Built-in to the case is a wide angle lens, so you can capture a true to perspective experience – sorry, there doesn’t appear to be additional mounts. Mophie has been sure to include an accompanying app (for free), though it won’t provide filters or any special effects. Instead it will grant you access to their Outride community, where you can share your extreme videos, and try to garner followers of a similar mindset.
Mophie expects the Outride to be available mid-September starting at $130.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
