iPhone 5 Announcement Likely Coming September 12th
Waiting for the iPhone 5, or whatever the hell it will be called? Looks like Apple will announce plans for their next handset the week of the September 9th.
Historically speaking Apple has announced new products on Wednesdays, so in all likelihood the event will take place on September 12th. Keep in mind, though, that Apple has only confirmed an event for that week and hasn’t explicitly said that it will be iPhone focused. However, and as noted by AllThingsD by way of Apple’s latest 10-Q filing, “prepayment for inventory components rose $1.15 billion sequentially in the June quarter. That’s a big increase, one that puts such prepayments at their highest level in four years — 12.6 percent of Apple’s total sales, according to Wells Fargo Securities analyst Maynard Um. And as Um notes, they’re a good indicator that Apple is ramping up for a big product launch — or several of them.”
