If you didn’t know, GadgetReview’s home is in Santa Monica. And aren’t we lucky, because Apple has plans to build a brand-spanking new Apple store just down the street. Aside from the surrounding walls, it will be made entirely of glass, which is oh so SoCal. If you’ve ever set foot in the Apple store on the Promenade (it’s chalk full of tourists, teens and bums), then you know the store is in desperate need of an upgrade. It practically explodes at the seams at all hours of the day.
In actuality, the new store will replace the old Borders store – you know, the company that crashed and burned recently because they didn’t follow Apple’s proven, high revenue generating model. We can only assume that the old store, which probably isn’t more than 2500 square feet will be shut down and replaced by this 8000 square foot behemoth with a 75-foot glass roof.
We’re just a bit concerned about earth quakes, and the people that have a tendency to walk into glass walls.
