Breaking a key off in a lock is a nuisance to say the least. Break a headphone jack off into an iPhone or iPad, and you’ll pay not only the price of inconvenience, but you might even have to replace the entire device. Sure, that’s a worst case scenario, but unlike a door lock, odd are you probably don’t have a lock smith living next door, or one that will show up at your house within 30-minutes of the mishap…and can fix your now broken iPhone.

To avoid this impetuously crafted disaster, there is the Replug. In the same fashion Apple’s MagSafe power connectors break free in the event someone trips over the cord, so does the Replug. But instead of using a magnet, a resilient elastomeric ring grips around a special jack that “lets go” when there is too much strain on the jack. Use cases scenarios might be a few and far between, but where there is a will there is a way – we’re sure many of you can attest to that. ¬†Installation is as simple as plugging in a headphone cord and it works with any 3.5mm headphone jack, so compatibility is a non-issue.

You can grab a Replug from Amazon for just under $20.
