Dell Studio Launches 14z Laptop, A Student Friendly Machine

Dell released a student friendly laptop today, the Studio 14z.  It weighs in at a mere 4.3lbs, but lacks an internal optical drive, something those big on DVD watching will sorely miss.  They’ve also included FailSafe theft protection which can track down your laptop over the Net in the event that it is stolen – course the thieves will have to go online for this to work.  Remaining features include an Intel Core2 Duo Processor, PowerShare USB charging (allows USB device charging even when the laptop is powered down), a 14-inch LED backlit screen, WiFi, optional mobile broadband, 1.3MP webcam, 2 headphone jacks, Nvidia 9400M video card, up to 500GB hard drive, Display port, an optional 8-in-1 memory card reader, Bluetooth and an HDMI out.    The Studio 14z is available now in a variety of colors and starts at $649.
