Satechi Wireless Multifunction Mini Router (video)
When I finish any editorial piece I feel a small victory for myself, the readers and whatever company I am bumping my gums about. Here the dissemination of information is seen as win-win for all considered, even when said info is hard to hear. Resting in the self-righteous bliss that I have done right by the world, I move on to the next morsel of tech news to pass on to the internet masses. Yet I find myself often talking about tech tinkerer, Satechi. It’s for good reason. This is a very prolific lot. Not all their wares are fantastic but they have many toys worth investigation.
Take their newest, the Satechi Wireless Multifunction Mini Router. There’s not a journalist I know who hasn’t fought with wretched and faulty hotel internet service. Ok sure! Maybe I shouldn’t have waited until 3am to write a piece due at 6am. But that’ beside the point. The Wireless Multifunction Mini Router is a powerful networking tool for both home and office. It uses an expansive 2.4Ghz wireless band and is capable of reaching speeds topping out at 300mb/s. That means yes you can stream movie, download heavyweight files and play online games with ample bandwidth to spare.
The Satechi Wireless Multifunction Mini Router wears many hats. There are five modes to service virtually all your networking needs. Access Point Mode is used to create a wireless connection. Router Mode allows you to set up a traditional wireless connection when internet service is available. Large homes or work spaces will benefit from the Universal Repeater Mode to extend the range of an existing WiFi connection by 100 feet. Client Mode connects you to an existing wireless network, while Bridge Mode will let two or more wireless access points speak civil to each other for joining several LANs.
The device is compact easy to use and support new and older 802.11 wireless network standards. It supports WPS for secure WPA2 connections. Plus it’s priced to move at $39.99!
