The 12-person study showed strong agreement with lab equipment but needs replication at scale before broader conclusions hold.

Researchers behind the comparable device Lumen found it “can provide valid information regarding an individual’s metabolic state, and in agreement with results from the metabolic cart,” according to their validation study published in PubMed Central — evidence that breath-based metabolic devices can work when executed carefully.
