Nowadays, there’a a wide range of options in terms of what you’re able to buy when looking for a HVAC system for your house. You can opt for a portable air conditioner which you’ll be able to move around from room to room, a mini split system that’ll let you control the room temperature of every room individually, or a window air unit that you’ll have to fit to your window and therefore designate it to only one room in your house. Picking between these and many other options may seem difficult at first, but not after you have a pretty good idea of what you’ll get from them. Window mounted air conditioners tend to be a lot more energy efficient compared to the other available options, and if energy consumption is your number one deciding factor, then the FFRS0822S1 Frigidaire 8000 btu air conditioner may be the best window air conditioner for you. Whether or not it’s the best air conditioner for sliding windows may still be debated, so stick around and get to the end of this review to find out if it could be worthwhile.

Why We Like It – Frigidaire 8000 BTU Air Conditioner

The Frigidaire 8000 BTU Air conditioner is a great choice for anyone that would want to have an AC unit that’s easy to use, easy to install and ideal for bedrooms. It’s best for a floor coverage of up to 350 sq ft, and will easily have you cooled down thanks to its 3 fan speeds.

  • Allows for 4 way air direction control
  • Multi speed fan with 3 different fan speeds
  • Washable filter that’s easy to remove
  • No WiFi Support

With an 8000 BTU rating, the FFRS0822S1 Frigidaire window mounted AC is powerful enough to effectively serve an area of up to 350 square feet. If you want to be able to cover a slightly larger area, say about 450 sq ft, then you might want to consider it’s more capable counterpart, which has a cooling capacity of up to 10000 BTU. The 8000 BTU window air conditioner also features 4 way air directional control, and has a well laid out electronic control panel that is pretty easy to use.

Energy Efficiency

The Frigidaire FFRS0822S1 window mounted room air conditioner has a fairly low energy efficiency rating, meaning you’ll probably have to deal with high energy costs if you’re not smart about how you use it. To make sure these costs stay down, you could decide to have it run in energy saver mode, where the unit turns on and off similar to how a central air conditioner would. This is something that you would be unable to do with the LG LW8016ER room air conditioner.

To keep any unwanted particles from circulated air, the Frigidaire FFRS0822S1 has got a mesh filter that does that job, and in case it gets contaminated with too much dirt and unwanted substance, the filter is washable so you should be able to take it out and wash it with no problems whatsoever. The washable filter will need to be replaced after some time, and we recommend exchanging it for a new one after about 45 to 90 days of use.

Just as you would with the FFRA0511r1 Frigidaire 5000 BTU Air Conditioner, you’ll also get a 1 year warranty with the Frigidaire FFRS0822S1, and this warranty covers both parts and labour. The window mounted room air conditioner should essentially be able to last up to 10 years without any signs of getting worn out, provided you keep it clean and well maintained. If you do experience problems with your brand new unit, don’t hesitate to reach out to customer service.

With up to 3 different fan speeds to choose from, the Frigidaire FFRS0822S1 gives you pretty much the same options as any other reputable AC unit would, with the only caveat being that it doesn’t have an energy star certification. It does come with a remote control to allow for convenient operation, so you won’t have to get up from your seat every time you need to adjust it.
