Kristie Bertucci is an L.A.-based writer, who can't live without her MacBook Pro. When she's not writing, she's either reading or shopping (online, of course) and loves lazy days so she can catch up on her DVR-recorded shows and movies. She's definitely a Mac girl, she loves music and is currently on a mission to to have an insane and enviable iTunes library.

great article. i’d never heard of, until their icon showed up on my fb page today. you’ve answered every question i had and more

  2. Last.FM is much better with its inclusion of foreign artists. As well, the service for Last.FM at $3 a month comes out to $36 for a year.
Last.FM also allows use of their API. At one point, on the Palm phones, where no official app was available, I recall an app with streaming. Pandora has API access for its paid users only, as I recall. (Hence no free desktop apps.)

    Just sayin’.

  3. Honestly, if you remove the mobile app issue, Last.FM utterly kills Pandora dead (provided you would rather not listen to the top 40s chart for hours on end). Though I agree Last.FM leave a lot to be desired with respect to navigation (good luck finding a way to remove an artist you’ve accidently added to your library). Their computer generated recommendation system coupled with the depth of their library will navagate you to genera’s you’ve never heard of before.
