Yet another candidate steps forth to try for the title of the best Chromebook for artists. This time it’s the Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US). Does it have what it takes to be considered the best chromebook? Its resolution is fantastic, so that’s a good start. And it even comes with a built-in pen, so you don’t need your own.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US) offers an enticing device: an affordable 2-in-1 laptop with a built-in pen that has the performance to multitask well and consistently so.
As we mentioned before, its resolution is 2400×1600, which is even better than 1080p (that’s 1920×1080). More importantly, its pixel density looks so crisp and clear on a 12.3-inch screen. Colors are really good, too, which makes color accurate tasks that much more useful. It’s touch screen, but also comes with a built-in pen to draw or take notes with. To appreciate how good the display quality, you can compare it with another model. Check out our Samsung Chromebook Plus V2 Review if that’s something you are inteested in.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro XE510C24 K01US doesn’t skimp on battery life either. You can consistently hit 9 hours on a single charge, provided you’ve made a few tweaks on the backend, power settings, and depending on what you’re doing. That’s what you’d expect from the HP Chromebook 14. If you want to do a comparison with a similar model that has a poorer battery life, check out our Samsung Chromebook Pro Review.
Weighing 2.38 lbs, the Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US) is among the lightest 2-in-1 laptops you can pick up. What’s nice is the simple fact that it’s mostly made of metal, a huge upgrade to durability than plastic will ever offer, like seen on the Lenovo Chromebook S330.
And here’s where the Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US) Touch Screen Laptop Tablet falters: too few ports. Along the sides are two USB C ports, one on each side, an audio jack, and a microSD card slot. To be fair, you can expand ports via adapter.
At first glance $785 may seem steep, but take this into consideration: the Google Pixelbook Go i5 Chromebook is almost three times the price (specifically $1700). To get a Chromebook that does as much as the Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US), for this price, is a miracle in and of itself. Not to mention access to a bunch of art apps found on the Google Play store.
Taking the leap and getting the Samsung Chromebook Pro Convertible (XE510C24-K01US) will have you thanking your past self for giving it a chance. All of its features—though admittedly too few ports—performance, and design all culminate into one fantastic device. Most importantly, it does this at a very affordable price. You won’t be disappointed as an artist.
