The first expansion DLC pack in Battlefield 4 Premium, “China Rising” was released on Tuesday this week. For those that bought the BF4 Premium service, you’ve no doubt already encountered a few problems and bugs (which has unfortunately been plaguing BF4 since launch). With these potential problems, is Battlefield 4 Premium worth the purchase?

As is now unfortunately typical with big EA titles… the China Rising DLC has encountered its fair share of launch bugs. Going by the forums, it appears the most common is getting booted off servers after installing the new DLC. This is not a great sign for the latest expansion, but it looks like they’re at least trying to deal with the issue. According to the BF4 support page:

“DICE have identified the issue and is implementing a solution to the problem. This fix will take some time to be fully completed, but players should be noticing normal gameplay behavior soon.”

With the numerous problems floating around, DICE has even compiled a FAQ on the numerous problem, some of which includes:

  • Unable to Connect o EA Servers
  • Disconnect immediately upon joining server

Current “fixes” are lacking, mostly just DICE letting gamers know that they are aware of the problems and are working on it. Having said all that, for those that can login and play without problems, reviews for China Rising are fairly favorable (and generally if you’re on the PC and you patch BF4 before installing and downloading China Rising, you’d probably be A-OK). EA/DICE has promised to hold off on working further expansions until the problems afflicting the main game (and the recently released China Rising) have been fixed. Will this mean the future expansion in the Premium Service pack will be more bug-free? Only time will tell. Did you buy BF4 Premium? Was it worth it to you? Or if you didn’t and you’re on the fence, does the 20% off deal offset the potential bugs? Let us know in the comments.
