The $100 million term loan is milestone-gated — tranches tied to program progress, not a blank check. Stack that against $175 million in Series B equity led by B Capital (with United Airlines Ventures, Northrop Grumman, RTX Ventures, and 3M Ventures participating), the $235 million Air Force contract, and North Carolina incentives that could exceed $1 billion, and total commitments surpass $1 billion. Serious capital for an aircraft that has yet to leave the ground.

North Carolina taxpayers are already committed to this bet. The state has pledged up to $1 billion in payroll tax breaks over 37 years and $450 million from the General Assembly — all conditional on JetZero hitting hiring benchmarks. The company projects roughly 14,500 jobs over a decade, with a minimum obligation above 8,000 workers at average wages of $80,000 to $89,000. The state is effectively co-investing in a first flight still more than a year out.

The Q4 2027 Jet1 flight is the pivot point everything else hinges on — the early-2030s commercial service target, United’s conditional order, Factory1’s full production ramp.

The Certification Path Is Uncharted Territory

Blended-wing-body designs have lived in research labs for decades; getting one past regulators is an entirely different challenge.
