Testers were pretty happy with how well the Gigabyte FI32U is optimized for gaming. They loved its wide viewing angles, high 144Hz refresh rate, high screen resolution, and impressive ergonomics. However, they felt that its contrast ratio was relatively low and that its peak HDR brightness level was not as good.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Gigabyte Aorus FI32U is a top-tier gaming monitor announced in mid-2021. The highly-rated computer monitor also comes with HDMI 2.1 ports for connecting PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, and with support for HDR content, it can deliver vivid picture clarity. It has a 4K screen resolution just like the Gigabyte Aorus FO48U and a decent 144Hz refresh rate that is enough to ensure tear-free gaming. The monitor’s 7.8ms response time puts motion blur at bay, and its color accuracy is also relatively high. Its ergonomics are as good as the Dell S2722QC, and its input lag is also low enough to allow for quick gaming responsiveness.

Consensus

our Verdict

Top-tier testers hailed the Gigabyte Aorus FI32U as a premium 32-inch display that is an excellent pick for gaming. Experts from Rtings were impressed with its 144Hz refresh rate, as they felt it very much prevented screen tearing. They also complimented it for its 2.1 HDMI ports, as they facilitated connectivity between PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles – a connectivity option that is not available on the Dell S3222DGM. Product testers from Tom’s Guide were quite happy with its color accuracy and established that the display had wide viewing angles. Its ergonomics were also judged as pretty good, and since it has a 4K resolution, critics felt that it would be great for office use thanks to outstanding text clarity.

Unfortunately, the FI32U does not have a good contrast level, as experts noted that blacks appeared gray in a dark room. This, and mediocre HDR brightness levels, are issues it shares with the Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD.

Reason to Buy

  • Excellent color accuracy
  • Great ergonomics
  • Wide viewing angles
  • High refresh rate
  • 4K Screen resolution

Reason to Avoid

  • Low contrast ratio
  • Mediocre HDR brightness
  • No built-in speakers

The Gigabyte FI32U is a better pick compared to the LG 32GK850G-B courtesy of its support for HDR content, HDMI 2.1 ports, 4K screen, and wide viewing angles. The one major thing that the LG monitor has going for it is its higher 165Hz refresh rate, and this makes it a viable option for gamers.

There’s not much difference between the Gigabyte FI32U and the Gigabyte M32U, as they are both 32-inch screens with a 144Hz refresh rate. However, the FI32U has slightly better ergonomics and active noise canceling for its microphone, but the M32U retaliates with a wider color gamut for HDR content.

Despite both being released in 2021, the Gigabyte FI32U has slightly better ergonomics than the Asus ROG Swift PG32UQ and is, therefore, easier to adjust. Still, the Asus monitor also has superior HDR performance due to its higher HDR standard and is also significantly brighter.
