Galaxy S26 owners have a significant software update waiting for them today. Samsung’s One UI 9, built on Android 17, began its stable rollout in mid-September for the Galaxy S25, S26+, S26 Ultra, and S26 FE, according to Samsung’s official global announcement.
The update had already shipped on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8. Now the full S26 family, including the freshly launched S26 FE, gets the same package.

My FanCam is the headline camera addition. Shoot a wide-angle video at a concert or a youth soccer match, tap the person you want to follow, and the feature handles the rest.
According to Samsung Electronics, “My FanCam automatically tracks a selected person in a recorded video and keeps them centered, intelligently reframing the footage as the scene moves.” Samsung says it also outputs clips in social-ready aspect ratios, cutting down the editing step before you share.
Now Brief, Samsung’s daily summary feed, gains what the company calls Generative and Editable Cards. These cover health, weather, and video content, and Samsung says users can control which categories appear rather than accepting a fixed layout.
Now Nudge pulls context from across your Galaxy devices to surface timely suggestions. Samsung’s example: if you are mid-conversation about plans, Now Nudge can surface reservation details directly into that thread. No separate app required.
Security and Productivity: The Upgrades You’ll Actually Notice
One UI 9 tightens both your daily workflow and your device’s defenses across several familiar apps.
Voice Recorder’s AI summaries now output with headings and tables instead of a wall of text. For anyone using the app to capture meetings or lectures, that structural shift means scanning for key points rather than scrubbing through audio.
Document Scan gets a quieter but genuinely useful improvement. Samsung says the updated tool handles curved book pages and folded corners more effectively, correcting perspective distortion automatically.
Interpreter adds Thread View, a scrollable history of previous turns in a multi-language conversation. Samsung also claims faster translations in Conversation Mode and quicker playback when paired with compatible Galaxy Buds, though independent verification of those speed improvements is not yet available.
On the security side, Security Brief consolidates malware alerts and security flags in a single view. Privacy Alerts notify you when AI features or apps access sensitive data. According to Samsung’s rollout announcement, coverage extends to S23 through S25 series devices and Tab S9 through S11 models as well.
Scam call detection, Samsung’s AI-driven tool for flagging suspicious incoming calls, expands to Japan, Canada, and India with this release.
What to Do Right Now
If you own any S26 model, there is no waiting period to worry about.
Check your software update settings now. Samsung says the stable rollout is underway, and the S26 FE, which only launched this month, is included from the start rather than waiting for a secondary wave.
The update also brings Quick Panel refinements and new creative options in Samsung Notes. Together, these round out what Samsung positions as a unified AI experience across its Galaxy lineup, regardless of whether your phone folds or not.
