Three unboxing videos from a YouTube channel called Kingmi Mobile surfaced before Apple’s official October 23 launch, offering among the first publicly reported real-world looks at the iPhone Duo outside of Apple’s promotional materials. Independent reviews have not yet published, making this footage the earliest available hands-on perspective on Apple’s debut foldable iPhone.
What the Videos Actually Show
The Kingmi Mobile footage covers both finishes and walks through packaging, setup, and the folding display in real-world conditions.
The videos reportedly show both the Star White and Night Sky versions, according to coverage by iPhone in Canada. Kingmi Mobile is described as a specialized technology channel; its official status and product-sourcing details are not established in available reporting.
Here is what the three videos reportedly show:
- The phone ships in an open, unfolded configuration, and users can close it during the initial setup process.
- The 7.6-inch inner display’s opening animation works in both portrait and landscape orientations. A Kid Cue feature also appears during setup, reportedly designed to attract a child’s attention while taking a photo. Both are video-based observations, not independently verified Apple documentation.
- The center crease is reportedly difficult to see during ordinary viewing but becomes visible when pressure is applied to a specific point on the display. That observation reflects one set of conditions in one video, not a universal statement about crease visibility across all lighting and angles.
- Build quality earns a subjective positive reaction from the unboxer, described as a single impression rather than an independent durability assessment.
One detail worth noting: the packaging removal reportedly involved a heat gun to loosen an adhesive strip. Whether that reflects standard practice for early units or something retail buyers should expect is not clear from the footage alone.
Getting One May Take a While
Preorders are live, but delivery estimates for some configurations have already slipped well past launch day.
Preorders opened October 16, with official availability set for October 23, 2026, through Apple and selected carriers and retail partners. Apple confirms a 7.6-inch folding OLED inner display and a 5.4-inch outer OLED display. Storage ranges from 256GB to 2TB. The Duo weighs 254 grams and carries an IP68 rating for up to six meters of depth for 30 minutes under Apple’s stated test conditions.
Supply appears tight. According to Macworld, some configurations already show delivery estimates extending into late January 2027, though dates vary by configuration and location, so your specific estimate may differ. In-store availability at launch could be extremely limited, based on reported delivery data.
Macworld reports a starting price of $1,999, a figure also displayed on Apple’s official specifications page.

What Early Footage Can and Can’t Tell You
These videos answer some practical questions about the out-of-box experience but leave the bigger durability and performance questions open.
The footage appears to show the packaging experience, setup flow, folding behavior, and initial crease impressions under specific viewing conditions. It cannot establish long-term hinge reliability, camera performance, battery endurance, or thermal behavior under sustained load. If your delivery estimate shows January, independent reviews will likely be available well before your unit arrives.
