Apple has begun slotting the iPhone Duo into its standard AppleCare damage categories, publishing region-specific service fees for the company’s first foldable iPhone. Missing from every published table: any out-of-warranty pricing for the inner display, outer display, or hinge, the components that define the Duo’s $1,999 price point and its repair risk.
What Apple Has Published
Apple’s published fees apply the same iPhone damage categories to the Duo, with amounts varying by region.
Under AppleCare+ in the U.S., the Duo falls under Apple’s generic iPhone fee structure. Apple’s legal AppleCare fee schedule sets $29 for screen or back-glass damage, $99 for other accidental damage, and a $149 deductible for theft or loss claims.
Regional pricing has been more specific. In Japan, AppleCare+ for the Duo costs 29,800 yen per year or 2,980 yen per month, per iphone-mania.jp. Service fees run 3,700 yen for screen or back-glass damage and 12,900 yen for other accidental damage.
Gadgets Now reports AppleCare+ for the Duo at Rs51,900 annually. Service fees are Rs2,500 for screen or back-glass damage and Rs8,900 for other accidental damage. Apple’s Hong Kong AppleCare page formally lists the Duo in its regional fee matrix at an HK$228 service fee row.
The clearest published U.S. coverage option is AppleCare One at $19.99 per month for up to three eligible Apple devices. Additional devices cost $5.99 per month each. AppleCare One Family covers up to six people via Family Sharing at $49.99 per month, available from September 14. Multiple independent reports confirm Apple has not yet listed a standalone per-device AppleCare+ premium for the Duo in U.S. pricing tables.
What Apple Has Not Published
Apple has left every fold-critical repair cost unpublished, leaving buyers with no out-of-warranty cost floor.
As of mid-September 2026, Apple has posted no out-of-warranty repair prices for any component unique to the Duo’s foldable design. No published figure exists for the inner display, the outer display, the hinge, the battery, or full-device replacement.
MacObserver describes the U.S. pricing table as carrying a row for the Duo “with no figure in it.” The gap extends across Apple’s entire September 2026 lineup, according to the same outlet’s repairability roundup. That includes iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, AirPods 5, Apple Watch Series 12, and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
As MacObserver states: “Apple has published no repair pricing at all for iPhone Duo, for the screen, the hinge, or any other component, and there is no published figure close enough to responsibly estimate one.”
Repair-focused analysis notes that competing foldable manufacturers have typically published fold-cycle ratings and explicit component repair pricing, making Apple’s disclosure gap notable for the category.
Under AppleCare+, your Duo repairs follow the same damage categories as any iPhone. If a fold-critical component fails outside that coverage, you have no published cost to plan against , and you may find yourself paying too much without realizing it.
