Understanding where your money goes no longer requires opening multiple banking apps. Personal Finance in Claude lets paid subscribers connect bank accounts and credit cards, then ask plain-language questions about balances, spending patterns, bills, and financial terminology.
Connected accounts enable spending analysis, visual summaries, and anomaly detection across categories.
Spending categorization covers areas such as rent, utilities, and food. The feature can also flag possible duplicate charges, unexpected fees, and subscriptions or bills that have increased over time, and it generates weekly spending charts, expense calendars, and adjustable dashboards.

Read-only access is the firm boundary: Claude analyzes data but cannot act on it.
Claude cannot move money, manage accounts, or invest users’ funds. Anthropic is explicit that Personal Finance is not designed to provide investment advice.
Plaid handles the account connection, keeping bank credentials out of Claude’s reach.
Users authenticate directly with their financial institution through Plaid, so Claude does not ask for or see a bank password. What Claude does access includes the institution name, account type, and last four digits. Transaction history extends up to 24 months and covers amounts, dates, merchants, categories, and bank descriptions, along with current balances and credit limits.
Within the Personal Finance hub, conversations are not used to train Anthropic’s models, according to the company.

Anthropic also says those conversations are not added to Claude’s shared memory, though readers should verify that detail against Anthropic’s current Help Center documentation.
Anthropic warns that Claude can make mistakes and advises users to check important figures directly with their bank.
The company specifically recommends asking which transactions support any given figure before treating a summary as definitive.
Beta access is limited to paid subscribers in the United States.
Personal Finance is rolling out to Pro, Max, and Ultra plans. According to Anthropic’s support documentation, Free, Team, and Enterprise plans are not included. The feature is available through the side menu across Claude’s web, desktop, iOS, and Android platforms.
Reuters described the rollout as a beta for paid subscribers, noting it places Claude alongside other financial and legal data handling concerns in the broader AI landscape.
Reuters reported on the launch on November 5, 2026. The competitive comparison to OpenAI’s finance-focused offering could not be independently confirmed from available sources and has been omitted pending verification.
