I’ve bought the same forgettable $12 case for every phone I’ve owned, because I never really bothered to give it much thought. If it kept the glass off the concrete when I inevitably dropped it, good!
What finally got my attention was how often I prop my phone against something or look for something to prop it against. I’ve used weird things too, like a power strip sitting on a table I haven’t put away yet, a saltshaker (that’s not full enough so I just end up tipping it over) and even a full glass of water, because I’m really smart. You’ve probably done the same thing, so you’ve also probably watched it sadly slide down until it just gives up and falls flat.
TORRAS built the stand into the case, so you can stop looking for something to prop your phone against. And, even though the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max just came out, TORRAS already has cases cut for them.
The Stand Actually Adjusts
The Ostand Air hides an aluminum alloy ring in the back panel that flips out into a kickstand. It swings from 20 degrees up to 90, and the whole thing rotates a full 360, so you can set your phone flat for a recipe, angle it up on a desk, or spin it landscape for a video call without hunting for something to lean on.
Most stand cases work, but they turn your phone into a brick. The Ostand Air is only 2.8mm thick and weighs under two ounces, which makes it about as thick as cases that don’t have a stand, so when you put your phone into your pocket, it actually feels like a phone.
It Survives the Drop You’re Actually Worried About
TORRAS claims the Ostand Air can survive drops of up to 15 feet, which is well past the height you’d ever drop a phone from by accident. Patented cushion tech does the shock absorbing, and the lips on the case sit 1.2mm above the camera and 1.45mm above the screen, so even if your phone lands face-down on a sidewalk, it’ll hit plastic before it hits glass.
The magnets hold up too. You get 18N of pull from N52-grade magnets, so it grabs a car mount or a charging puck and stays put over rough pavement. If you depend on MagSafe, it’s perfect.
Where to Get One
TORRAS says it created the magnetic stand case category, and it now sells in 148 countries with more than 40 awards under its belt. The Ostand Air is their flagship case, but you can also check out the ultra-light Air models, which are slim protective shells that have been stripped-back to just the essentials. It depends on how much case you actually want.
The Ostand Air will cost you just shy of $70, which is hard to swallow when you stack it against a 12 buck case. But, your cash gets you a stand you’d normally have to buy and carry separately, MagSafe features, and the stand’s made of aluminum, so it holds an angle better than anything you’d prop your phone against.
