Coming in at #6 for the best laptop for League of Legends, this Dell gaming laptop offers premium performance at the perfect price. Powered by a 9th gen i7 processor paired with an Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card, you’ll easily be able to play all of your favorite games on this laptop, despite the low refresh rate (although you also have the option of upgrading the screen to 144 Hz!).

Why We Like It – Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop

The new Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop has 16 GB of RAM, a backlit keyboard, a 6 core Intel i7 processor, & is capable of putting out 60 frames per second.

  • Lightweight (at only 3.79 lbs.)
  • There’s both a 256 GB NVMe SSD & A 1 TB HHD In This New Dell G Series Laptop
  • Has An Nvidia GeForce GTX Graphics Card
  • Poor Battery Life
  • Not Available With Nvidia GeForce RTX

Power & Performance

The G5 offers great specs for a low price (for the best gaming performance check out the Asus ROG Strix Scar III!). For just under $1,200, you get 16 GB of RAM, a 256 GB SSD (plus 1 TB of hard drive space!), a refresh rate of 60Hz, excellent graphic performance from the Nvidia GeForce GTX graphics card, & superior processing power from the six-core i7 processor, all displayed on a 15.6” FHD LCD screen! If this isn’t enough, you can easily upgrade the system for even better performance!

This laptop comes with an internal 60 WHr battery. Although the battery is a higher capacity than many other laptops within the same budget, it still has the same lack-luster life that we’ve come to expect from gaming laptops. Dell doesn’t even provide an estimate on the battery life, so we had to look in the comments for user results. For most people, the internal battery seems to last between 2 to 4 hours, depending on how you use the laptop.

Ports & Expandability

You don’t have to worry about a lack of connectivity options on the G5. This laptop has one USB C port (with Thunderbolt 3), three USB 3.1 ports, a DisplayPort, an HDMI port, an ethernet port, an SD card reader, & a headphone jack. With all of these options, you shouldn’t have any trouble connecting this laptop to your current gaming setup. Our only complaint is that there’s no dedicated microphone input, which would have been a nice final touch to an otherwise complete set of connections.

Build Quality

Despite having a clean, shiny metal finish this laptop only weighs 3.79 pounds (making it much lighter than the Lenovo Legion Y7000 gaming laptops). Unfortunately, the light weight is outdone by the bulky size of this laptop, which is partially due to the back (which sticks out past the screen hinge). The hinge for the screen is well-made, although the top panel flexes more than we would like. This laptop doesn’t have the premium feel of Dell’s Alienware lineup, but it seems durable enough for everyday use.

It costs $1,180 for this laptop, which (as gaming laptops go) isn’t too bad (another budget gaming option is the Lenovo Legion Y540)! You get free shipping through Amazon Prime, although if you decide to return the device you will have to pay extra. The laptop is covered by the Amazon.com Return Policy, but you have the option of purchasing an additional protection plan. A two-year plan costs $120.99, & a four-year plan costs $169.99. However, this laptop scores a 4.4 out of 5-stars based on 243 Amazon ratings, so it’s unlikely that you will need to use it!

Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop Wrap Up

If you’re looking for a powerful, performance-based gaming laptop that won’t break the bank, then the Dell G5 15 Gaming Laptop could be a great choice for you! While we wish the battery lasted longer (and also the bulky design is an issue), this laptop is perfect for someone who games mainly at home & only goes out sometimes. If that sounds like you, give this laptop a chance!
