Photo printing work can consume a lot of ink cartridges because the print quality is supposed to be at its absolute highest point. However, the Canon Wireless TS8120 Printer, with its six-color ink system with individual ink tanks, provides excellent efficiency when printing on photo paper. In fact, it’s probably the best printer below $400.

Canon has been hailed as some of the best manufacturers when it comes to photo printers worldwide. And the Canon PIXMA TS8120 wireless inkjet printer upholds that reputation perfectly. Without breaking the bank, this inkjet printer provides high print quality along with extreme ink efficiency. For another model by this brand, check out our Canon PIXMA Pro-100 review.

With a reasonable DPI set, you should be able to reach up to 15 PPM (monochrome) and 10 PPM (color), slightly slower than 18 PPM with the Epson WorkForce WF-7210 Wireless. That is considerably faster than other cheap photo printers. The only thing that’s a bit of a shame is that the paper tray of this Canon printer can only hold about 40 sheets of photo paper at once. So it’s not really cut out for high-volume jobs. For that, you should consider getting something like the Canon PIXMA G5020 MegaTank Inkjet Printer instead. However, if you are needing a high-quality photo printer, check out our Canon PIXMA Pro-100 review and the Canon PIXMA MG 3620 review to see which fits your needs best.
You can select up to 4800 x 1200 DPI print resolution from the printer driver and the Canon print app. The optical scanner has a resolution of 2400 x 4800 DPI. And the photo blue ink tank is included, providing immaculate picture quality while printing borderless prints. This Canon printer can print out some really impressive looking 4” x 6”, 5” x 7”, and even 5” x 5” square borderless photos.
As mentioned before, the Canon PIXMA TS8120 wireless inkjet printer comes with six separate ink tanks. With this kind of advanced color ink system, the Canon printer sips through ink cartridges for a very long time, even if you keep printing the most high-resolution, highly detailed prints possible by this printer. Overall it’s incredibly efficient, and pretty much nothing can beat it in its price bracket.
It has a lot of different wireless connectivity options to start off with. You get PictBridge Wireless LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, AirPrint, Google Cloud Print, and the Canon print app to print from a mobile device, so wireless network options are not limited whatsoever. And on top of that, you get duplex printing. But if you don’t care about all these features, you can also get the Brother INKvestment MFC-J985DW and save some money.
The Canon Wireless TS8120 Printer offers a reasonable price tag and excellent value. And the incredible ink efficiency will save you a lot of money that you might have to spend replacing ink cartridges in the long term if photo printing is your regular job.
The Canon Wireless TS8120 printer, unlike the Brother MFC-J805, is incredibly efficient and feature-rich for its price. It’s hands down the best printer when it comes to ink efficiency below $400. Yes, the output tray could have been better. But everything else is so good that it doesn’t matter in the long run.
