The Canon MX922 wireless inkjet office printer launched way back in 2013, but it still holds up to this day. In fact, it’s still probably the best duplex printer below $350. Even though the mid-range printer market has been heating up quite a bit in the last few years with numerous options from different brands, this Canon printer still beats most of the good ones handily in this price segment. Which qualities make it one of the best printers? Well, read our post to learn more about this device.

Why We Like It – Canon MX922

The Canon Pixma MX922 Wireless Inkjet Office printer is one of the better older inkjet printers capable of wireless printing. It still performs very well for printing on plain or photo paper. It’s a perfect fit for a small home office if you can find it at a low price. You can check out our Canon Pixma iX6820 review for a more compact printer.

Pros
  • 35-sheet ADF with auto duplex printing and scanning
  • Capable of printing out borderless photos
  • Both wireless networks (Google Cloud Print & Apple AirPrint) supported
Cons
  • You can’t scan documents when you run out of ink

Speed

The print speed of this Canon printer is not bad. With optimized quality settings, you can get up to 15 ISO PPM (Monochrome) and 10 ISO PPM (Color) out of it. While these speeds are faster than the HP Officejet Wireless Replenishment K7V40A at 8.5 PPM monochrome and 6 PPM color, it gets crushed by the Canon imageCLASS MF424dw at 40 PPM monochrome and 21 PPM color. The scanner is fast and can provide a scanned copy within seconds. Obviously, that’s not enough for people who need high-volume printers. Get the Brother HL-L2350DW compact monochrome laser printer instead in that case.

Print Quality

It’s a Canon printer, so the print quality will be good if you use compatible Canon ink cartridges. You can select up to 9600 x 2400 DPI for color prints. And for scanning, you can select up to 4800 x 2400 DPI. The optical scanner also supports two-sided document automatic duplex scanning. Check out our Epson WorkFocrce ES-400 for another printer that scans fast.

Efficiency

This Canon Printer is actually both very power and ink efficient for its age. The only thing that’s a bit of a bummer is that the genuine Canon ink cartridges are very expensive. That’s why you can also go for the Epson WorkForce WF-3540.

Moreover, if you already know how to print a poster-sie picture on a regular printer like this one, you’ll want it to be very efficient.

Advanced Features

It’s a wireless printer with Wi-Fi. So, you can use the Canon Print app to print wirelessly from your phone. And it supports both Apple AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. Also, you can connect this printer to your PC using a USB cable. Plus, if you’ve been wondering, “Why won’t my printer scan,” it may be an advanced feature that you’re lacking.

Value

Looking at everything above, the value proposition of the Canon Pixma MX922 Wireless Inkjet Office printer is actually pretty good, if you can find it for a good price. If you can’t, you can also take a look at the cheaper Brother MFC-J880DW printer.

Canon MX922 Wrap Up

Overall the Canon MX922 wireless inkjet office printer turned out to be great even now in 2020. If you can find it below $350, you can blindly go for it.
