If you want a gaming monitor that delivers good performance without breaking the bank, The MG279Q Asus is a solid choice. It sits in the middle of the Asus range, but still has many features for gaming performance such as an IPS screen, quick response time, and Freesync technology to pair with an AMD graphics card. If you’re looking for the ultimate gaming experience, it may be worth checking the best 144Hz gaming monitor. It’s also worth checking the best computer monitors for a better experience (no matter what activity you are engaged in).
The Asus MG279Q sits in the middle of the range between the high and low-tier gaming monitors. Despite its price, it punches above its weight in terms of features with high screen resolution, quick refresh times, and great picture quality. Despite sitting below the ROG Swift range, the Asus MG279Q monitor still has enough gaming performance for most players. The IPS display has a large 2560 x 1440 resolution and an amazing 100,000,00:1 contrast ratio. The fast refresh rate of 144Hz and quick response time of 4m/s ensures excellent image quality. One of the drawbacks we found in our Asus MG279Q review is that the Freesync adaptive sync only works at 60Hz. Despite this, it still does a great job of reducing screen tearing. If you need a G-sync compatible screen the Acer Predator XB271HU is worth a look. Compared to many of the best gaming monitors the MG279Q has a very ordinary design. It comes standard with one DisplayPort 1.2, two USB ports, and two HDMI ports. It also has small speakers which will hardly be used. On the inside, it comes with four different blue light filter settings and Asus Gamevisual Technology. The 27-inch screen should be enough to get the best gaming experience, but if you need something bigger, the BenQ XR3501 is an awesome alternative.

Considering all its features, the Asus MG279Q is good value for money. It beats many of the gaming screens in its price range by having a 144Hz refresh rate. Unlike some cheaper screens, it forgoes a TN panel in favor of an IPS to get fantastic viewing angles. The MG279Q might not be the best choice for professional gamers, but it’s more than enough for casual players. This screen isn’t as flashy as the more expensive BenQ XL2730Z, but it still delivers an admirable performance.
Our MG279Q review has touched on all the main features of this monitor. We’ve found it to be a competent choice with some upmarket features like 144Hz refresh rate, Freesync technology, and quick response times. Most people won’t bother using the tiny speakers, and for the price, they can forgive the spartan design. It’s definitely one of the best choices in its price range.
