The 27-inch Dell S2722DGM delighted product testers with its fast 165Hz refresh rate and high contrast levels, as they felt that these attributes made it ideal for office use and gaming. However, they were also let down by the monitor’s poor ergonomics and narrow viewing angles – issues it shares with the Asus TUF Gaming VG34VQL1B.

Product Snapshot

Overview

The Dell S2722DGM is a 27-inch mid-tier display that was released to the market in mid-2021. It has a 165Hz max refresh rate that is quite high, making it one of the highest even when compared to the best computer monitors. Its high contrast ratio also makes it ideal for viewing in a dark room, and since it also has impressive peak brightness levels and decent reflection handling, users shouldn’t have any issues with glare. The top gaming monitor’s excellent response time keeps motion blur at bay, and similar to the Dell S2722QC, its low input lag makes it super responsive when gaming.

Consensus

our Verdict

The Dell S2722DGM is a 27-inch VA display that experts have hailed as a good pick for office use and gaming. The display boasts a respectable 165Hz max refresh rate, which experts from PC Gamer found to be good enough for tear-free gaming. It also has a decent 1440p screen resolution and, according to reviewers at Rtings, good enough contrast for dark room viewing. Its viewing angles are not as wide as those of the Corsair Xeneon 32QHD165, but its reflection handling is decent, and its 10.6ms response time is quick enough to avoid any motion blur when gaming.

On the other hand, its lack of support for HDR content and its poor ergonomics put off some reviewers, who felt that this was quite limiting.

Otherwise, both have a QHD resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and excellent contrast levels.

The Gigabyte M27Q outmatches the Dell S2722DGM regarding wider viewing angles, color accuracy, and support for HDR content. The S2722DGM still features a higher contrast, but this is not reason enough to justify it as a better choice than the M27Q.
