Apple is taking photo editing to the next level with its latest developer betas for iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 as reported by Engadget. The tech giant has introduced a groundbreaking feature called “Clean Up,” which harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to seamlessly remove unwanted objects from your photos.
With Clean Up, you can bid farewell to photobombers, unsightly trash cans, or any other distracting elements in your images. Cybernews points out that the AI technology intelligently detects objects, allowing you to remove them with a single tap. For more precise control, you can also draw a circle or brush over the object you want to eliminate.
What sets Clean Up apart is its ability to generate a realistic background when an object is removed. The AI system understands shadows and reflections, ensuring that the edited image looks natural and cohesive. Say goodbye to the tedious process of manually cloning or stamping to fill in gaps left by removed objects.
Apple’s AI features
Apple has been testing an initial set of Apple Intelligence features since July with the iOS 18.1 developer Betas. These AI-powered tools aim to enhance the user experience across various apps and services.
In addition to the Clean Up feature for removing objects from photos, Apple is introducing several other AI capabilities according to Techcrunch. Users can expect improved writing tools, smarter notification summaries, and natural language search in the Photos app.
The update also brings AI-powered transcription for calls and voice recordings in the Notes app. Plus, the Mail app will offer smart replies to help you quickly respond to messages.
However, it’s important to note that Apple Intelligence features are currently only available to users who have their language set to English and their region selected as the U.S. Apple has not provided any information on when these features might expand to other languages or regions.
As Apple continues to develop and refine its AI offerings, users can look forward to more intuitive and efficient ways to interact with their devices. The company’s focus on integrating artificial intelligence across its ecosystem positions it to compete with other tech giants heavily investing in AI.
