Plantronics introduced their newest
Bluetooth headset
this week, the 925. The device is available in a variety of colors including Onxy Black, Alchemy Gold and Cerise Pink (what the hell is wrong with pink and gold). It sports a unique VFrame design, which is intended to contour to the user’s face for better voice quality for the caller. The device utilizes a proprietary noise reduction technology for enhanced call quality and should get a 5 hour talk time on top of an additional 5 hours with the ‘on the go’ charging case.
Available from major retailers for $150 starting April 2008 (black only). Other colors due in May.

Sure to garner some stares
for looking like a deuce bag, the Roadrunner handsfree headset looks more military opps than
Bluetooth headset
. The microphones are strategically placed next to your voicebox, which in turn surpresses ambient noise during conversation and makes the Roadrunner ideal for top down driving or motorcycle use. Better yet, pair it with your gaming system, fire up some COD4 and strap on the
FPS Vest for a true immersive military experience. Expect 9 hours of talk time and 7 days of standby.
Available here for $79.

MP3 FM transmitters and Bluetooth speakerphones are nothing new. The combination of two, though, is something that seems to have alluded most manufactures. Gear4s newest offering, the Gear4 BluFM offers just that. Simply plug in your MP3 player and jam out to tunes via the FM transmitter. Pair it with your phone and when there’s an incoming call, it should cut the music and transmit the caller’s voice over the car’s speakers via the FM transmitter. One question remains: will this thing work with an
iPhone
much like the
iSonTalk? The jack probably isn’t compatible with the iPhone’s recessed input so you’ll have to address that with an aftermarket adapter.
Available here for $98.

The BIZZ headset from Bluetrek does double duty as a Bluetooth wireless headset and a USB

. To access the drive’s contents, and charge the BUZZ, simply unplug the ear piece from the body and insert into a USB port - there’s an optional car charger. Memory capacity comes by way of microSD card and supports sizes up to 8GB. Expect up to 7 hours of talk time and 10 days of standby. Weighs 10 grams and set to go on sale in the UK for just over $78.

The BluAlert vibrating wristband is no doubt superfluous for most occasions, but might serve a purpose at ridiculously loud events. The device wirelessly connects via Bluetooth to your cell phone. When your phone rings or receives a text message the wristband vibrates. Once paired, the BlueAlert wristband also includes a 15’ proximity alarm in the event that your cell phone decides to take a walk. 3 hour charge time and 100 hour standby time.
Available here for $63.

Plantronics unleashed their new
Bluetooth headset
today: the Explorer 370. It’s certified to MIL-STD 810 standards. In English, that means it’s United States Army approved. It sounds like it can survive everything just short of a nuclear winter - water, dust and shock resistant. The Explorer 370 also includes ‘windscreen technology’ to minimize the whisping we’re all so familiar with, especially if you’ve lived in Chitown or Boston. Sounds like the perfect headset for those who like to run triathlons in the rain.
Available in March ‘08 for $80.

Hanics presented their I-Bone Bluetooth bone conducting headset at CES 2007. As you can see from the pics there are no ear buds and the would be
headphones
grasp the joint between the skull and jaw. The head set appears to sit just behind the users left ear, but might be adjustable to user preference. Should be available in January 07 for $500.

Apple also announced, or perhaps didn’t, a
Bluetooth headset
for the
iPhone
. They make mention of it on the iPhone site, but don’t link or show any pics. We picked this up from
CNet. Looks small and sleek, but not much more is known.
